Introduction

Just like a PB&J sandwich, this recipe can always be made with basic pantry staples. I like strawberry jam, but feel free to use grape jelly or even orange marmalade if that’s your favorite. You can even get wacky and use almond or cashew butter in place of the peanut butter. Just like a PB&J sandwich, this recipe can always be made with basic pantry staples. Ingredients

**This recipe uses a smaller slow cooker, 1 1/2 to 2 quarts

    1/2 cup steel-cut oats
2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional – use if you use plain non-dairy milk)
    3 tablespoons natural peanut butter
3 tablespoons fruit sweetened strawberry jam

Directions

The night before: Spray your crock with some oil to help with clean-up later. Add oats and milk. Cook on low overnight (7 to 9 hours).

In the morning: Stir your oatmeal well. It may seem watery at the top, but if stirred, it should become a more uniform consistency. Mix in peanut butter and jam.

Serving Size: Makes 2-3 servings

I use PB2 peanut butter (2TBSP.- 45 calories), Target carries this product and sugar free jam instead to save calories. - 3/3/15

Love the blend of flavors and steel cut oats are the best! I add PB2 also (dried powdered peanut butter) and stir in any jam that I've made, most recently blueberry rum jam. - 3/3/20

I am not fond of steel cut but do have oatmeal for breakfast often. I also don't use almond milk, just regular skim and enjoy that much. Everything else is great and tasty. Thanks for sharing. - 3/3/18
