Introduction

Ingredients

    1 pound extra lean beef
    2 cans cream of mushroom soup
    2 cups low-fat shredded cheese
    4 servings baked tater tots (approximately 40)

Tips

You can also put the tots on top. We like to stir in 2 cups of mixed frozen vegetables, too.


Directions

Preheat oven to 400. Brown the beef, mix with the cream of mushroom soup and 1 coup of shredded cheese. Place about 40 tater tots in the bottom of a baking dish. Pour mixture over tots and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Kids love it!

    I make this all the time except I saute meat w/onion & garlic, salt & pepper to taste.... add frozen mixed veggies w/ mush soup pour into casserole dish, top w/ cheese then tater tots on top to get crispy & sprinkle w/ onion & garlic powder.... yummy - 4/25/12

    This is exactly how I make it too. I just add an onion to the hamburger when cooking and I put half the tots on top and half on bottom and put the cheese on a few minutes before taking it out. That way the tots dont get mushy :) - 9/13/10

    My husband introduced me to this when we first got married. I LOVED IT... but so much so, that I eat way more than I'm supposed to. That sounds good for dinner tonight though... YUMMY - 8/3/11

    This dish was awesome and easy! The only thing I did differently is put the tater tots on top of the mixture instead of on the bottom, so we could get the crispyness. My whole family loved it! - 8/18/09

    I use one can cream of mushroom and one can cream of chicken (both low-fat heart healthy versions). I also add in poultry seasonings mixture (sage, thyme, parsley,rosemary) to give it more of a home gravy taste, which allows me to get rid of the cheese. Stir in frozen veggies and tots on top! - 9/28/15

    We had this as kids and I make it as well except we put the tots on top and use a can of cheddar cheese soup mixed with a bit of water and pour it over the tots. The tots still come out crispy :) - 3/6/13

    It's a family fave since I was little. The only thing I do different is I add a can of cut green beans (drained) to the meat and soup miture. I pour that mixture in the bottom of the baking dish. Then top with slices of cheese and the tater tots. That keeps the tater tots crunchy. - 7/12/09
