I used a reduced sugar Devil's food cake mix by Pillsbury...so this is probably even less calories with that! So scrumptous...and very very moist! YUM!!! - 4/15/09

Tried this tonight since we're having a luncheon at work on Thursday and it's the 4th one we've had this month and I'm yet to have dessert at one, I volunteered to bring it this time. It took a little more than 1 T of batter to make 12 cupcakes for me though, and I used Diet Dr Pepper instead :) - 4/27/10

I have to admit, even after reading the other reviews, I was still skeptical that just mixing soda and cake mix would produce something that still turned out like cake. But wow! These are so moist and yummy! - 10/23/09

How was this EVER thought of? SO MOIST-like a cross between brownies and cupcakes (maybe because I used "pudding in the mix cake" mix?) Told everyone I know and brought to school and shared with the other teachers, now I think these are the new permanent treat in the teacher's lounge! THANK YOU!!!!! - 4/6/09

Very easy! Made the entire package as cupcakes for a meeting tonight. I signed up for desserts so I could have control of the calories. Sliced some strawberries and some lite cool whip to top it with - if wanted. Definitely will do again and will try white cake/cherry 7-up next time. - 5/22/12

very moist. I took advice from one of the other commentators and added the fat free jello mix too. My husband loves chocolate cake, and although he said he liked it, he wasn't crazy about tasting the cherry pepsi in it. I didn't mind the taste...kinda different. - 1/20/10

hmm thats too bad Id try a diet coke instead maybe? Also let them cool completely and maybe even chill them. I noticed when i ate them warm I could taste the soda more than when they had cooled all the way.

These are a great alternative to regular chocolate cupcakes, but a lot more healthy! My husband even said they tasted good. Next time I will top them off when a fat free frosting or something low in calories if I can find it. Don't underestimate this recipe! Try it, you'll like it!!! - 1/9/10

I made these cupcakes over the weekend and added a container of low-fat chocolate jello pudding. These are great and really satisfy those chocolate cravings. - 5/4/09

I couldn't find the devil's food cake mix or diet wild cherry pepsi at my local Walgreens, so I used the fudge brownies and the diet cherry cola. Delicious! I can't believe I don't have to use eggs or oil! - 8/20/13

I use cherry 7up or code red mountain dew and white cake mix its so yummy and the soda makes the cake pink! I also use the same idea for brownies, but I use a plain diet cola(sometimes cherry). If I feel like haveing some icing I just use some cool whip. This idea lets you be so creative! - 9/18/10

I baked mine in a 8" square pan. It turned out fine. You'd never guess it was lo-cal or made with diet soda. I was blown away by the results. If you sprinkled some XXX sugar on top, no one would ever guess. - 8/23/10

Very yummy! I added a bit of flour for the altitude, but will most likely leave it out next time, it dried them up a bit. - 7/20/10
