Introduction

Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    1 1/3 cups water, room temperature
    3/4 cup oats
    2 Tbl. butter, cut into small pieces
    3 Tbl. honey
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
    1 3/4 cups bread flour
    2 Tbl. vital wheat gluten
    2 tsp active dry yeast

Directions

Makes a 2# loaf - approximately 20 servings

Place all ingredients in bread machine in order listed or according to your machine instructions. If using the Delayed Start, place oats in with flour to keep away from water. This makes a great breakfast bread. May use maple syrup in place of honey.

To get 20 servings per loaf, I cut 10 thicker slices, then cut each in half. I do this because I don't slice "thin" very well and each half is a good serving.

    Great bread! I made it early in the day for dinner and had to make a second loaf in the afternoon because the kids ate it all! I could not slice it thin enough to make 20 slices- 12 was the best I could get. - 7/2/07
