Ingredients

    ● 1 ¼ c vital wheat gluten
    ● ½ c cooked cannellini beans, mashed
    ● ¼ cup nutritional yeast flakes
    ● 1 tbsp fennel seed
    ● ¼ tsp coarsely ground black pepper
    ● 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
    ● ½ tsp ground paprika
    ● 1 tsp red pepper flakes
    ● 1 tsp dried oregano
    ● 2 cloves garlic, minced
    ● 1 tbsp olive oil
    ● 1 c vegetable broth
    ● 2 tbsp soy sauce
    ● 2 dashes liquid smoke
    ● 6 3½ x 7" strips of aluminum foil

Directions

Get the foil and your steamer ready (I use a colander that fits perfectly over a large pot with a tightly fitting lid). Put an inch of water in the bottom and bring it to a simmer while you’re mixing the ingredients together. In a large bowl, mix together all of the dry ingredients. Add the garlic, olive oil, broth, soy sauce, and liquid smoke, and stir until mixed.

Split dough into 6 parts and shape into 5″ logs. Place logs on piece of aluminum foil and roll up tightly, twisting ends. (The tighter you roll them, the more they’ll keep their shape.) Place sausages in steamer and steam for 40 minutes.

I know this one inside and out - originally from http://vegandad.blogspot.com/ I recently served these sausages to a house full of Foodie meat-eating snobs (they're my friends, I love em even though they feast on animals) and the entire crowd went wild. These are ridiculously good. - 6/21/10

    Incredible!
Used a pressure cooker on vegetables/steam for 10 min! These are fantastic! I am not 100% vegan as I like certain meat occasionally but am lactose intolerant and can’t eat anything processed! - 4/28/18

    Incredible!
I was a little nervous about trying this and didn't expect it to work out the first time, but it was easy and super tasty! Kind of excited to try more thing using vital wheat gluten. - 10/17/11

    Very Good
They tasted fantastic, though mine turned out a little dry. For now, I'll blame it on the rookie mistake of not taking them out of the steamer and unwrapping them right away (was busy making potato salad)--I think it overcooked them. Will definitely make them again! - 7/5/10
