Ingredients
-
1 lb grass fed ground beef
1/3 cup salsa, drained
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 avocado peeled and chopped
3 tbsp cilantro, chopped
2 tsp lime juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
4 Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns
Directions
Serves 4
Place oven rack 6 inches from broiler and preheat to high. In a large bowl, combine beef, salsa, salt, and pepper. Shape mixture into 4 equal patties, each 1/2 inch thick, and place on baking sheet. Broil for 6 to 7 minutes or until burgers are browned. Flip and repeat on second side until burgers are firm to the touch and no longer pink in the center, 5 to 6 more minutes (internal temperature should read 160 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer).
Place avocado in a small bowl and mash to a chunky consistency with a fork or potato masher. Add red pepper, cilantro, lime juice, garlic poder, pinch salt and black pepper, to taste; stir to combine.
To serve, spread avocado mixture to each before finishing with top halves of buns.

I also used turkey instead & they turned out UH-MAZING! I grilled them in a pan and added red onions, an egg and bread crumbs for consistency...they were sooo moist and delicious. I also added some cayenne pepper to the avocado topping to add a little kick! These are definitely a new favorite!! - 1/30/11
