Introduction

I typically have ground turkey on hand, so I used this instead of the traditional meats. I typically have ground turkey on hand, so I used this instead of the traditional meats.

Ingredients

    Meat Mixture:
    1 lb ground turkey, 93% lean
    2 Tbsp water
    1 Tbsp lemon juice
    1 tsp salt (optional)
    1/2 tsp ground cumin
    1/2 tsp oregano
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    2 cloves garlic, pressed
    1 small onion, finely chopped

    Dressing:
    1/2 C plain yogurt, fat free (Greek yogurt preferred)
    1 tsp dried mint
    2 tsp sugar
    1 small cucumber, finely chopped

Directions

Mix the ingredients of meat mixture. Cook in a large skillet prepared with cooking spray until meat is no longer pink.

Meanwhile, combine ingredients for dressing. Set aside to allow flavors to marry.

To serve, spread approximately 2 Tbsp dressing in small pita (not included in calorie count); add approximately 2 oz of meat mixture.

Pockets may also be stuffed with diced tomato, cheese, olives, onions, etc.; not included in calorie count.
