    1 cup split peas
    4 cups water
    2 cups lean cubed ham
    2 medium carrots chopped
    1 stalk of celery chopped
    1 white onion chopped


Cook split peas in the water until soft. Add the ham, carrots, celery and onion and cook until the vegetables are soft and the peas have come apart. Add salt and pepper to taste.
