Introduction

This pea soup combines both split peas and yellow peas for better texture. This pea soup combines both split peas and yellow peas for better texture.
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    1 cup split peas
    1 cup dry yellow peas
    12 cups water
    5 oz beef round steak
    3 tsp Italian herbs seasoning
    1 stalk raw celery
    1 medium yellow onion
    3 tsp extra virgin olive oil
    1 tbsp salt
    1 tsp black pepper
    2 tbsp Bovril Beef

Directions


In a large bowl soak peas overnight in enough cold water to cover by 2 inches and drain.
Cut onion in small pieces.
Dice celery.
Combine in your pot, all the ingredients together and simmer mixture, uncovered, until peas are very tender, about 60 to 90 minutes.

Soup may be made 3 days in advance. Cool soup uncovered and keep covered and chilled. Thin soup with water if too thick.

Note: I keep the piece of beef uncut as my children don't like eating the beef from the soup, but you can also cut it in pieces. Also, It is preferable that you add the salt according to your own liking. I usually don't add exactly all the salt that is in there, but adapt it to my family's taste. Enjoy!
