Introduction
Our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Recipe courtesy of my excellent cook of a mother-in-law. Our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Recipe courtesy of my excellent cook of a mother-in-law.Number of Servings: 6
Ingredients
-
1 lb. extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 tsp. flour
1 cup beer (your favorite!)
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Dash of cayenne
Salt to taste
Directions
Mix cheese with flour, coating well. In a fondue pot heat beer not quite to boiling. Stirring constantly, add cheese a little at a time. Over medium heat stir until smooth. Stir in mustard, Worcestershire, cayenne and salt. Continue to stir until well blended. Serve with celery, ham, sausages, bread cubes, apple or any blanched vegetable or precooked shrimp. Serves 4-6 (we half this recipe and it is a nice hefty fondue for the two of us).

I made this for Valentine's Day too. The flavor was very good. I used Kraft 2% sharp cheddar cheese. The only thing is that it got very thick the second we took it off the heat. Maybe some cornstarch would help? - 2/16/11

We usually keep it on a heated fondue pot which helps keep it melty and gooey. Glad you liked it!
