Ingredients

    2 cups of warm water
    1 cup of warmed salsa
    2 TBS OIL
    1 TBS honey
    1 TBS YEAST
    1 TBS ITALIAN/MEXICAN SEASONINGS: 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp of onion powder; 1/2 tsp oregano.

    3 cups of whole wheat flour
    Mix together and let sponge.
    Then add: 4 oz of Pepperjack cheese

    Add enough flour to clean bowl and knead 5-6 minutes. You can make an exaggerated [tall] round loaf or smaller loaves. Let rise. Bake 30 minutes @ 375 degrees

Makes 55 oz of dough; serving size is 1 oz.

    Basically this was a good loaf, but it definitely needed salt! I thought the cheese would do it, but even with all the flavor of the salsa and spices, it was flat tasting until I added salt. But I will make it again-- hubby really liked the final product! - 1/24/11
