Introduction

This is an easy crock pot or stove top meal that my family loves. This is an easy crock pot or stove top meal that my family loves.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    Beef broth, bouillon, consomme, 4 cup
    Beef chuck, arm pot roast, 16 oz cut into stew meat pieces
    *Potato, raw, 3 large chopped (3" to 4-1/4" dia.)
    Carrots, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Onions, raw, 1 slice, large (1/4" thick)
    Garlic, 1 clove
    Dried red pepper flakes, 1/2 teas
    Dash liquid smoke
    Basil, 1/2 teas
    Barley, pearled, raw, .75 cup

Directions

Brown meat in a saucepan. Add all ingredients except barley to crock pot or stove top pot. Add meat and more water, if desired. Cook all day on medium-low heat. Add barley, depending on packages' instructions. I buy the 10-minute barley and add at the end of cooking. Serve with biscuits.
