Ingredients

    1/2 lb bacon
    6 onions (not Vidalias!)
    6 tart apples
2 Tbs brown sugar (optional, but it has been included in the nutrition data)

Directions

fry bacon in 12 inch skillet
while bacon cooks, peel and slice onions.
Core and slice apples, but do not peel.
When bacon is done, remove to paper towel lined plate and cover with more paper towel to keep warm.
Pour out the bacon grease, but do not wipe pan. Fry onions in same pan for about 3 minutes. Place apple rings in an even layer over the onions, sprinkle with brown sugar (optional), cover and turn the heat down. Cook until apples are tender, a few minutes more.
To serve family style: break up the bacon and stir it into the apples 'n onions and put the pan on the table.
For company: place the apples 'n onions in a serving bowl being careful not to break the apple rings. Arrange the bacon neatly on top, serve with a smile!
