Introduction

I love Bulgar wheat!!! This is a filling recipe with both carbs and protein. I love Bulgar wheat!!! This is a filling recipe with both carbs and protein.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 cup light bulgur wheat
    1/4 cupFlax Seed
    1 diced onion
    2 cups water
    chicken bullion seasoning OR 2 cups chicken stock

Directions

In medium saucepan, oil. Add bulgur, flax seed and onion. Stir until bulgur is golden brown and flax is turning dark, about 3 minutes. Water, bullion salt and desired spices (I like garlic powder). Cover, heat to boiling, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes. Turn off heat, remove lid, and fluff pilaf with fork. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Serving Size: makes 4 1/2-cupish servings

    This came up when I was searching for vegan menus. The recipe calls for chicken stock or chicken bullion seasoning. If the bullion or flavoring is made from actual chickens, this would not qualify as a vegan recipe. - 10/30/11
