This is a spicy homemade sauce that is delicious over pasta or in lasagna or as a dipping sauce. Depending on your heat preference you can use a little less or add a little more chili flakes. Ingredients

    2 28 oz cans of crushed san marzano tomatoes
    3 tbsp olive oil
    3/4 fluid oz red chili flakes
    3/4 cup green onion (scallions) only the green part
    1/4cup garlic
    1/4 fluid oz salt
    2 oz cup basil

Directions

heat up the olive oil in a big sauce pot. Add chili flakes and toast a little then add the garlic. Cook chili flakes and garlic until garlic is golden brown but do not burn, it will taste bitter. Add basil and green onion and saute for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and serve or cool and use the next day. This will make 24 half cup servings. You can double the batch and freeze some for another day. It is good in the fridge for 4 days. Add some ground turkey for more protein!
