Ingredients
-
1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
2 tbsp olive oil
1 pkg ( net wt.8 oz) sliced mushrooms
1 can tomato paste
2 cans diced tomatoes
1/2 small onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 jar (20 oz) traditional spaghetti sauce
spices to taste: Oregano, Basil, Bay Leaves, Celery Salt and Ground cumin
Whole wheat pasta
Directions
in a large pan heat 1 of your 2 tbsp's of oil and throw the onion, garlic and green pepper on to brown. Add mushrooms and brown all until juicy. Place in a bowl and set aside for a moment.
In the same pan brown your ground beef or turkey and when meat is brown add the onion, garlic, g.p. and mushroom mixture. Then add your spices, a dash or more of oregano, basil, bay leaves, rosemary, celery salt and ground cumin.
Add 1 can of tomato paste and fill your empty can with water. Once blended, add diced tomatoes and then jar of traditional spaghetti sauce. The longer you let it simmer, the better it is!
Cook whole wheat pasta (use remaining tbsp of olive oil if you like), and once done, remove both from heat and serve with a nice salad! Makes 8 generous servings!
