Introduction

This is my "Go-To" bread. It has more calories than bread you buy in the store, but it is homemade, so you don't have the preservatives. I have it memorized, I use it so often!

Ingredients

Coconut Oil, 2 tbsp, melted (I melt mine in the microwave for 30 seconds)

Warm Water, 1 cup (8 fl oz)

    Brown Sugar, 1/3 cup, packed

    Salt, 1 tsp

    Whole Wheat Flour, 2 cups

    Bread Flour, 1/2 cup

Yeast, bread machine (I use Fleishmann's yeast)

Directions

This recipe is for your bread machine. I always make it on the dough setting, let it rise (covered) for 1/2 hour in a greased loaf pan and then bake for 1/2 hour at 350.

Put the "wet" ingredients into your bread machine pan first. For me, that's my melted coconut oil and my water.

Add your brown sugar and your salt to the pan.

Add your whole wheat flour and your bread flour to the pan.

Make a well in your flour with your fingers and pour in the 1.5 tsp of yeast - bread machine yeast works the best in this instance.

Hit the dough cycle button and let your machine go to work.

When the machine is finished, pour your dough into a bread pan that's been sprayed with non-stick spray. I'm sure you could use some coconut oil or some butter to grease your pan, but that's not included in the calorie count above ;)

Cover your bread with a clean dish towel and allow to rise on top of the preheating oven for at least 1/2 an hour.

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

Once your bread is finished, carefully run a butter knife around the edges of the bread pan. Cool your bread on a wire rack or your favorite cutting board. Wait at least 5 minutes before slicing into it. Slice & enjoy!

Serving Size: Makes 12-15 slices, depending on your desired slice size
