Introduction
This is a recipe my granny's friend from Florida gave me more than 15 years ago. It was the first sweet tea I actually liked. It tastes better (although similar) than most of the store bought brands here in the North. This recipe has ingredients and nutritional value for two batches through a 10-cup coffee maker. Ingredients
-
1 (10 cup) coffee maker use only for brewing tea
8 Lipton black tea bags
12 cups of water
1 1/2 cups sugar
Directions
Fill coffee maker reservoir to the 10 cup mark (approximately 6 cups of water). Place four tea bags in the the bin for the coffee covering as much of the bottom as possible. If the maker has a cone shape this works better. Brew first batch of tea.
When finished brewing, place in 1 gallon pitcher with 1 1/2 cups sugar. Stir until dissolved. Repeat brewing process as listed above. Pour tea into the pitcher, stir and serve. For iced tea, allow to sit covered until brought to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator.
