Ingredients

    Dates, 10 dates
    Walnuts, 1.5 cup, chopped
Navitas Naturals Raw Cacao Powder, 1 1/4 cup
    Vanilla Extract, 1 tbsp
Ultimate Superfoods Raw Cacao Nibs, 6 tbsp (optional)
Unsweetened coconut flakes, 1/3 cup (optional)
    Salt, 1 dash

Tips

I use Deglet Noor dates and a lot of cacao powder because I prefer a darker chocolate flavor. If you prefer a less bitter/more sweet brownie, there are a couple possible modifications. Medjool dates are much sweeter than other varieties - if you choose to add these then you will increase the sweetness but also alter the nutritional info. You can also cut back on the dark chocolate bitterness by reducing the cacao powder to 3/4 cup.

Directions

Soak walnuts for at least 4 hours. Drain.

Process walnuts, dates, extract, cocoa powder, and salt in food processor. Add a small amount of water if needed to allow batter to come together.

Press mixture into 8x8 pan, evening with spoon. Sprinkle with cacao nibs or coconut flakes. Chill until set.

Serving Size: Makes 9 brownies.
