Introduction

This is my recipe to make "perfect" rice cooker rice. A rice cooker is necessary. This is my recipe to make "perfect" rice cooker rice. A rice cooker is necessary.
Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

1 cup long grain brown rice.
    1 cup vegetable broth
    1 & 1/4 cup water
    1 tablespoon canola oil
    1 dash of salt
    1 dash of pepper

Tips

Rinsing the rice is optional - some people swear by it, and others feel it is unnecessary. I give mine a quick rinse through a mesh colander.

I use prepared vegetable broth. It comes in 4 cup packages. Water and broth may be substituted to taste.

Substitute olive oils or other to taste. Its purpose is to prevent rice from sticking to pan.

Omit salt for further low sodium options. Use reduced sodium vegetable broth as well.

Directions

Place 1 cup rice into rice cooker pan.
Add 1 cup vegetable broth to rice cooker pan.
Add 1 & 1/4 cup water to rice cooker pan.
Add 1 tablespoon canola oil to rice cooker pan.
Add a dash of salt and pepper to taste.

Place the rice cooker pan in the rice cooker and turn it on. The cooker will turn itself to "warming" when the rice is complete. Fluff the rice at this time.

Serving Size: Makes 2 - 2.5 cups of cooked rice.

    Very Good
For a simple brown rice this is perfect! Just enough flavor to not be bland like plain brown rice and still stay low in calories and easy to make! Servings are HUGE too! - 1/11/13
