Ingredients
-
1/2 Cup Steel Cut Oats- Bob's Red Mill gluten free recommended
1 Cup Milk- 2% for calorie calculations, other types work.
2 Cups Water
Dash of Salt
1 Quart glass jar that will fit in crock-pot with lid on
1 Crock-pot that will fit the jar with the lid on
Tips
Use a glass jar to get best results.
If you skip out on the salt you will end up with VERY bland oats.
Use jar lid to quickly and easily store the remaining oatmeal in the fridge for tomorrow.
Leftovers heat up easily in 2min in the microwave. :)
Directions
In a 1qt Glass jar, mix all ingredients together.
Place the jar in the crock-pot and fill the crock-pot with water till it reaches the level of the oats mixture (approx 6cups for a large crock-pot).
Place the lid on the crock pot and turn on to low.
The double boiler effect allows the oats to slowly cook themselves while you sleep without burning.
In the morning, stir the contents of the jar and serve as you like. (Make sure to note any additional ingredients, like fruit or butter, to your caloric intake)
