Fresh Cooked Green Beans

2.5 - 3 lbs fresh string beans
4 slices bacon
salt & pepper
I only add the bacon for flavor, but don't actually eat it. The nutritional info does include bacon grease though!
I also like to double this recipe and make a BIG pot, that way we can enjoy them with a meal, and I have leftovers, which I eat by themselves for lunch!
Add bacon, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste.
Add enough water so the beans are about 3/4 covered. Cook on high until they come to a boil, then reduce heat to low/simmer. Simmer for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally, or until most of he water has cooked away.
