Introduction

Ingredients

    1 cup chopped onion
    1 cup cooked brown rice
    1 cup cooked chickpeas
    ½ cup chopped fresh parsley
    1 cup diced tomatoes, drained
    ½ tsp allspice
    1 tsp black pepper
    5 garlic cloves, crushed
    24 savoy cabbage leaves
    3 garlic cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    ¼ cup lemon juice
    1/3 cup vegetable broth

Directions

Gently saute onion for 2-3 minutes.
Add to remaining ingredients through garlic and stir well.
Parboil cabbage until limp enough to handle, about 5 minutes. Drain in colander,rinse under cold water.
Place a generous tbsp of filling on each leaf, and roll.
Crush garlic, and place in medium bowl with salt and lemon juice. Mix in vegetable broth.
Pack rolls flap side down in lightly greased pot, sprinkling garlic lemon mixture between layers of rolls.
Invert a plate on top of rolls,inside of pot to kep them intact during cooking.
Add cold water just to cover rolls.
Place pot lid on firmly, bring to boil, then reduce to simmer for 45 minutes.
Remove pot from heat and set aside for 30 minutes.
