Introduction
If you love takeout pizza, this is a great substitute! I even suggest freezing half of the dough once it's prepared to make this pizza even fewer calories! Ingredients
-
3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 Tbs Baking Powder
1 Tsp Salt
12 oz Light Beer
1/4 lb of 93% lean ground turkey
1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
1/4 cup chopped green onion
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1 cup raw spinach
1tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Furman's Pizza Sauce
1 Cup Low fat shredded cheese
Tips
**Use the crust recipe as the base of your pizza, but change and build your own recipe to your taste by changing the toppings. I've done this with a chicken parmesan as well, and it too is yummy! The sauce is made of low fat parmesan mixed into a cup of lowfat mayo and dried basil. Spread the crust with the sauce and add grilled chicken and spinach. Top with one cup shredded low fat cheese. MMMM!
Directions
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and beer. Stir completely until dough is formed. Lightly flour and set aside.
Line a frying pan with a tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, fry turkey until done. Set aside. Chop all veggies finely, except for spinach, and using pan drippings, sautee the veggies until tender. Set aside.
Shape the dough onto a lightly floured stone or greased (with lowfat spray) cookie sheet. Shape the dough as thick or as thin as you desire. Cook in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until dough is done baking. Remove from oven.
Top the cooked dough with the pizza sauce, turkey, sauteed vegetables, raw spinach, sprinkle pizza with one-cup low-fat cheese. Bake in oven until cheese is melted. Makes 8 large pieces.
Serving Size: Makes 8 large slices
