Ingredients
-
6 peices of deer steak (raw)
2 tsp basil
3 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp black pepper (sprinkled)
1 cup of lemon juice (mixed with water in separate bowl)
1.5 cups water
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 tsp extra light olive oil ( put in frying pan)
Directions
1.) Thaw raw deer steaks and wash thouroughly in cold water.
2.) Put 1 tsp of extra virgin olive oil in cast iron frying pan. Add Deer only 2 deer steaks at a time. You will need plenty of pan space to scrub the meat in the juices.
3.) add basil, garlic powder, black pepper, lemon juice, water, nutmeg , poultry seasoning to bottom of pan and on top of deer steaks. Go sparingly on black pepper if your not used to spicy foods.
4.) turn on burner under skillet. fry steaks in juices on both sides until no longer red in middle. ( to check middle of steaks cut an "X" in the middle of the steaks and use a fork and knife to open up middle to check. Do this often to prevent burning of outsides. )
5. Make sure to scrub the meat in the juices against the bottom of pan. This prevents the juices to burning up and becoming part of the skillet instead of the meat. when done serve as main dish with your choice of side dishes.
