Ingredients

3 cups all purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups water or coffee
1/2 cup canola oil
2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon vanilla
Tips
In a pinch for time? Put all dry ingredients directly into pan. Make large hole in center and a smaller one on each side. Pour oil into large hole, vinegar and vanilla into small ones. Pour water over top of all, mix well with fork, and bake. Texture will suffer a little, but grandma and mom made it that way all the time and there were never any complaints except about how quickly it disappeared!
Directions
Mix all dry ingredients together. Add water, then rest of wet ingredients with mixer running. Continue to beat 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy. Bake in 13 x 9 pan. Not necessary to grease and flour pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes until tests done with toothpick. Enjoy. My family's always requested favorite.
