Introduction

Ingredients

    Finely chop:

    4 or 5 large figs
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/2 cup apples

    add and mix well:

    3/4 cup dark raw honey
    1/4 cup molasses
    1/4 cup canola oil
    1 large brown egg

    1/2 t. ground cloves
    1/2 t. ground cinnamon

    according to taste, add:

    dash or two of allspice
    dash or two of ginger

    sift together:

    1/2 t. sea salt
    1 t. baking powder
    1/2 t. baking soda
    2 cups whole wheat flour
    1/2 cup flax
    3 T. wheat germ
    1/2 cup walnuts, ground

    add to wet ingredients and mix well.

    Drop by tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake

Tips

If dough is dry, add a little honey. Applesauce can be substituted for apples. Fig preserves can be substituted for figs, spices, molasses and part of honey.


Directions

Bake 10 minutes in convection oven, approximately 5 minutes longer in regular oven.

Sprinkle a tiny bit of white sugar on top after removing from oven. Cool on pan for 5 minutes. Remove to serving plate.
