Introduction
Inedible Smoothies by Tracy Russell. "This green smoothie recipe is one of my spring and summer favorites. I love peaches, cherries and vanilla and it just so happens that these three flavors combine wonderfully in a smoothie! This smoothie isn’t all fruit either. Both carrots and romaine lettuce add minerals and extra vitamin A (as beta-carotene).
This green smoothie recipe is rich in antioxidants like anthocyanins, which give the cherry its red color. It is this antioxidant that studies have shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may help with symptoms of arthritis. Eating cherries may also help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers (breast and colon).
Peaches are a good source of vitamin C, potassium, lycopene and lutein. Research shows that lycopene and lutein may help prevent heart disease, macular degeneration and prostate cancer." Ingredients
-
2 organic peaches, pitted (I did 2 cups of home canned peaches)
1 cup whole cherries, pitted
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (I used a vanilla protein powder)
1/2 head romaine lettuce, chopped (1 cup lettuce)
1 medium carrot, cut into slices
4 to 6 ounces of filtered water
Directions
Start by adding the liquid to your blender (I use a Vitamix), followed by the soft fruit. Add the greens to your blender last. Blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.
