Ingredients:
*Whole Wheat Flour, 2 cups
Salt, 1 tsp ( add as per your taste)
Turmeric powder, 1 tsp
fenugreek leaves (Methi leaves), 1 cup (can be found in Indian grocery stores)
*Hot Chili Peppers, 4 peppers
Ginger Root, 1 tsp
cumin powder, 1 serving
Olive Oil, 6 tbsp
Plain non-fat yogurt 4 oz.
Water 1/2 cup (may require to add it while kneading dough)
CALORIE COUNT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FENUGREEK LEAVES. IT IS VERY NUTRITIOUS.
Directions
Method: Grind hot chili peppers and ginger root into a paste. Wash and finely chop fenugreek leaves. Add whole wheat flour, cumin powder, turmeric powder, salt, yogurt, 1 tbsp olive oil and chili ginger paste. Mix well and knead into a dough. Consistency of dough will be firm. If it is very hard, add some water so that it softens a little. Divide these into sixteen balls.
On a flat surface, roll each ball into a flat round bread with a rolling pin. The flat bread should be approximately three to four millimeters in thickness. You may use some dry whole wheat flour to prevent the bread from sticking to the rolling surface and pin.
Cook the flat bread on a skillet on medium heat. Check in a minute to see if the bread surface on the lower side of the skillet is turning brown. Turn the bread over and allow to cook until light brown patches are seen. Add a tsp of oil and turn over. Turn it over once again when it is browning more.
Place cooked bread on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Serve hot with a cup of tea or yogurt.
You may eat it cold as well.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
Each serving consists of two pieces of flat bread. Serves 8.
