Introduction
My boyfriend & I are doing spark together. We love pizza, especially stuffed crust but I couldn't bear eating all those calories for one slice at pizza hut. So, we decided to make our own. We were so surprised how low in calories it is per slice that we will definitely make this one of our regular meals. Everything we used is pretty easy to find but if you're having trouble finding the dough, check shoprite in the cheese section. My boyfriend & I are doing spark together. Ingredients
-
-Pappa Sal's Wheat Pizza Dough - 24oz (1.5 package)
-Weight Watchers String Cheese - 8 sticks
-Kraft Fat Free Shredded Mozzarella - (approx. 2 cups or 1 package)
-Red Pack Tomato Sauce - 1 can
-Kirkland Canned Chicken Breast - 4oz per half pie
-Broccoli - 1 large stalk
-Red Bell Pepper - 1 whole
-Medium Tomatoes - 2 whole
-Medium Onion - 1/2 (or more)
-Canned Artichoke Hearts (approx 6 hearts)
-Mushrooms (approx 3 per half)
Directions
Beforehand, let the dough warm to room temperature to make it easier to work with.
While waiting for it to warm up, prepare and sautee your vegetables and whatever else you want to add on top of your pie.
Prepare 16oz (1 package) of dough like a normal pizza pie, in a pan with an edge preferably. Use the other 8 oz (half package) and make a long roll with it about 3/4" - 1" thick; you can cut it half to make it easier to work with. It should be able to go all the way around the perimeter of the pie.
With a rolling pin, roll the strip of dough very flat (approximately 2" wide). Lay the string cheese end to end and pinch the dough to form a tube around it. You can then lightly roll the whole thing with your hands to make a good seal. Place the cheese roll you've just made around the pizza and press it against the edge of the pan. This helped stretch out the pie dough more too.
Cook in a 400 degree oven for about 10 minutes, add cheese and toppings and cook for another 10-15 minutes or until the top of the crust starts to turn a darker brown.
Wait about 20 minutes for it to cool, it will be easier to cut with a pizza cutter.
Enjoy low cal pizza heaven. Its seriously better than most pizza places, especially if you don't live in downstate New York. :-)
