Introduction

When I was 11, my family traveled to Washington state on vacation, and we spent a few days with my brother's godparents in Auburn. "Aunt Shirley" baked bread every morning. I had never tasted fresh homemade bread before and at one point ate almost a whole loaf by myself! She gave me the recipe, and over the years, I've memorized it. She passed away in 2012 and is remembered for many things, and this should be one.
