Ingredients

    elbow macaroni
    onion
    butter or margarine
    flour
    dry mustard
    salt, pepper
    milk
    cheese
    bread crumbs

Directions

1. cook macaronia as label directs
2. start heating oven to 400F
3. grease 1 1/2 qt casserole
4. mince onion and put in double boiler with 2 tbl butter or margarine. when butter is melted stir in flour, mustard, salt, pepper. slowly stir in milk, cook until smooth and hot, stirring often
5. slice about three fourths of cheese right into sauce; stir until cheese is melted
6. drain macaroni when tender and place in casserole. pour cheese sauce over macaronia and toss
7. top with remainder of cheese
8. toss bread crumbs with 1 tbls melted butter/margarine and sprinkle over cheese
9. bake uncovered 20 min makes 4 servings as main dish; 6-8 servings as a side; nice with crisp bacon
