Introduction
Healthy roti made from Jowar (Sorghum Flour) Healthy roti made from Jowar (Sorghum Flour)Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
1 cup Sorghum Flour (Jowar)
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Water
.5 tablespoons canola oil
Tips
Tightly pack the 1 cup of jowar for best results.
Directions
Boil water with salt. When water comes to a boil, add the jowar and turn the heat to low for 2 minutes.
After 2 minutes, stir the jowar and the water with a strong spoon until all lumps are removed and there is no trace of raw flour. Move to a container where you can knead the dough.
Once the dough is cool enough to touch, roll into 8 equal size balls, and then roll out like a tortilla. The dough is sticky, so you may need to roll it between parchment or wax paper with extra flour to prevent sticking (I use parchment paper and a tortilla press).
Place on a tava sprayed with cooking oil and cook on medium heat for 3 minutes. Lightly oil the top of the roti and flip, cooking for 3 minutes or until done.
Serving Size: Makes 8 rotis
