Ingredients

    93% Lean Ground Beef, 16 oz
    *Turkey, Ground turkey, 93% lean, 16 oz
    *Green Giant Fresh Sweet Fixin's Julienne-Cut Carrots, 12 oz
    Zucchini Squash, 2 cup (1 large)
    Mushrooms, fresh, 2 cup, pieces or slices
    *Hunt's tomato paste 12oz.
    Tomato Sauce, Hunts Sauce, 9 cup (3 large cans)
    *contadina diced tomatoe italian herbs, 4 cup (2 cans)
    Red Onion Raw (1/4 cup, 40g or 1.4oz), .5 cup (1/2 of 1 large red onion)
    *Garlic Clove (raw) 1 (3 grams), 0.55 oz (5 cloves)
    *Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 1 tbsp

Tips

I use this sauce to make lasagna as well.
I buy shredded carrots, but shred the zucchini and dice up the mushrooms myself because they are easy to do and I can make them small enough to hide them from my kids:)


Directions

With the olive oil in a large saucepan sweat the carrots, onions, shredded zucchini and mushrooms pressing the garlic on top of the veggies. Place in crock pot and add the tomato sauce, paste, and diced tomatoes. Stir and start crockpot on high. In same saucepan cook the ground beef and ground turkey. Drain and add to crockpot. Season with pepper and italian seasoning. Let cook at least 4 hours.
