Introduction

This is our staple recipe for one of our favorite family raw smoothies. There are 5 of us, our youngest just 11 months, and EVERYONE drinks this smoothie and loves it. I find they ask for more. It tastes sweet, but is packed with the awesome benefits of kale, spinach and carrots, and you can add protein powder to up the protein levels. Ingredients

    1 c Water
1 pineapple ring, about 3/4in thick
    1 medium banana
3 kale leaves, stems on, fresh (measures out to be about 2 cups if you stuff them in a measuring cup)
1 handful of raw baby spinach (approx. 1/2 c)
2 raw carrots - medium or large
6-8 large frozen strawberries, about 1 cup
1/4 c Bob's Organic Whole Ground Flax Seed Meal (

Tips

I add the flaxseed meal last, after I turn it to high speed or you can add it in between ingredients. I found it can stick to the sides of the container if added on top.

You can also omit the strawberries for ice cubes, adding about 1 cup or more depending on how cold and thick you want it.

I'm sure this is a similar recipe for many listed here, but this is my specific blend that I make for our family once or twice a day, switching out various ingredients for different flavors, etc.

Try using coconut water instead regular water, and for a dessert option, I added coconut ice cream (about 1/3 cup) to make it a "dessert" for my kids. :-)

The measurements for the nutrition information were based on 4 9oz servings, but our infant drinks a 4 oz serving, so the rest of us get 8oz. Just an FYI.

Directions

Add each ingredient in order listed to a Vitamix or equivalent blender. Instructions based on the Vitamix blender, basic model.

Turn blender on slowest speed, and gradually increase to 10, then flip the High Speed button on, and blend for approx. 30 seconds or until desired consistency.

Serve immediately.
