Ingredients
-
2 T olive oil
1 C brown sugar, packed
1/4 C water
2 t cinnamon
6 C old fashioned oats
1 C unsalted sunflower seeds
Tips
Remove the cooked brown sugar mixture from the pan as soon it is done cooking. Use a heat proof spatula. If the mixture cools, it will be nearly impossible to add it to the oats mixture.
Directions
Melt butter, brown sugar and water together in a pan over medium heat. Stir well, and allow mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
In a bowl, mix together cinnamon, seeds, and oats and add to the brown sugar mix.
Remove from the heat and stir until all oats are well coated. Place granola on one 18" x 13" cookie sheet (with edges), and bake for 5 minutes at 375.
Remove from the oven. Divide granola between 2 cookie sheets and stir/flip granola. Bake first batch for another 5 minutes until granola is lightly browned. Remove batch one from the oven. Bake the second batch for 5 minutes until golden brown. Remove batch two from the oven.
Allow granola to cool on the cookie sheets.
Cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
