Introduction
This was a suggestion from my friend and personal trainer to be eaten prior to a workout. He suggested that a banana and tall glass of water should accompany this, but no syrup. The waffle is not very greasy, as most are. I typically use a non-stick waffle maker and do not add any extra butter/oil/spray. I have to work on the numbers - make them a little more accurate. Especially how much rolled oats will make up 6 cups when ground up into a powder and how many servings it makes. Ingredients
-
6 cups flour (ground rolled oats instead)
4 Tbsp Baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 cup canola oil
6 eggs
2 Tbsp vanilla extract
12 Tbsp butter (melted)
4 cups milk
2 cups chocolate chips
Tips
- If it's too thick, thin out with more milk (a little at a time), but don't thin too much.
- You can use substitutes if you like. For example, skim milk rather than whole milk. You might need to experiment a little if the replacement has a different consistency.
- Extra waffles can be frozen.
Directions
Grind oats into a fine powder with a typical flour consistency. Add all dry ingredients and mix well. Add oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well, trying to remove. Melt the butter, add to mixture, and mix well. Slowly add the milk while mixing. Continue mixing until all ingredients are well combined and all lumps are gone. I, personally, prefer to use a Kitchen Aid mixer with the whisk attachment.
