Ingredients

    Beef Burger
    Potatoes
    Onion
    Cabbage
    Garlic
    Salt
    Pepper
    Egg
    Milk
    Flour
    Yeast

Tips

This is best prepared in a pot called a montnitza where there are four levels of monti above a steam bath.

Directions

Prepare filling by mixing together burger, finely diced potato, diced onion, slivered cabbage, garlic, salt and pepper. Set aside.
For the dumpling dough bring the eggs to room temperature. Warm the milk. Mix milk, eggs, yeast, and salt together. Gradually add in flour and then kneed until you have a stiff dough. Allow dough to sit covered 20 minutes.

To make the dumplings; take a portion of dough and roll into a log an inch in diameter. Cut portions 1/2 in thickness, and dip in flour on both sides. With a rolling pin, roll into round disk. Place a small portion of the filling on each disk, about 1 tablespoon. Pinch together in the middle to form a half moon. Turn and dumpling and seal openings until they also appear as a half moon. Bring the moon ends from each side around to touch one another and seal.
Place prepared dumplings in a greased steamer for 45 minutes.
