Introduction

Ingredients

1 pkg active dry yeast
1/4 c. water
3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tbsp shortening
2 c. stirred whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose or bread flour
1 egg, beaten
Directions
1. Soften yeast in warm water .
2. Combine milk, sugar, salt, shortening heating until shortening melts. Cool to lukewarm.
3. Add 1/2 c. wheat flour and 1/2 c. all purpose and beat well.
4. Add yeast mixture and egg.
5. Stir in remaining flour or enough to make soft dough.
* If dough is too stiff add 1 tbsp water at a time until desired consistency.
6. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface, cover and place in refrigerator.
7. About 2 hours before serving time knead lightly on floured surface and form into 24 rolls. Let rise in warm place till double (between 1 - 1 1/2 hours).
8. Bake at 400 degrees 15 to 20 minutes. Brush with butter / margarine.
Note: Prep time does not include rising time. Add 1 to 1 1/2 hours to include rising time.
