Introduction

My Dad used to make the best cabbage. But I could never duplicate it. So, after many tried I decided to come up with my own version. This recipe will be used for my weekly meal prep.

Ingredients

    1 tbsp Butter, unsalted
    1 tsp Garlic powder
    1 tsp Onion powder
    1 tsp Paprika
    1 tsp Pepper, black
    1 tsp Salt
    1 head, medium (about 5-3/4" dia) Cabbage, fresh
    1 slice, medium (1/8" thick) Onions, raw
    0.25 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
    2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
    6 slices Aldi's Fit & Active Turkey Bacon 1
    1tsp Olive Oil

Directions

1.Cut, chopped , slice (however you want) cabbage
2. Heat a skillet and then chop bacon then cook over medium heat until just crisp. Remove and set aside on paper kitchen toweling to drain.
3. Add the onion to the bacon drippings. Cook, stirring often. When it begins to caramelize somewhat add the garlic. Cook and stir until fragrant.
4. Add the cabbage. Cook, tossing and stirring, until the cabbage begins to soften.
5. Season to taste with the seasonings.
6. Add (1/4 cup) of water and cover. Cook and steam over low heat until the cabbage has softened.
7. Stir in the bacon crumbles. Taste and adjust seasoning as required. If desired stir in butter. Serve hot.
