Introduction

I make my own yogurt because it happens to be cheaper than buying it from the store. I also find it tastes better. I make my own yogurt because it happens to be cheaper than buying it from the store. I also find it tastes better.
Number of Servings: 7

Ingredients

    56.70 Granulated Sugar
    5 gram(s) Yogourmet Freeze-Dried Yogurt Starter - 1 packet
4.5 cup Milk, nonfat (skim milk)
.5 cup low-fat powdered skim milk (USDA Info) (by MOMADOG007)

Tips

to cut down on calories you can make with skim milk and artificial sweeteners. If you use skim, you will need to add skim milk powder to help thicken it. I also find with skim, I don't always like the texture.

Directions

heat milk to 180 degrees, add vanilla bean (as much as you like) or a teaspoon of vanilla extract and 4 tablespoons of sugar (I use regular sugar because I don't like using artificial sweeteners)
Cool milk to 110 degrees, add starter and whisk until frothy.
Add to jars, put in yogurt incubator for up to 10 hours (sometimes I go longer)
Refrigerate for 3 hours prior to eating.

Serving Size: 7 - 7 ounce jars of yogurt
