Ingredients

King Arthur Unbleached White Whole Wheat Flour, 2.5 cup
    Water, lukewarm, 1 cup
    Honey, 2 TBS
    Applesauce, unsweetened, 3 TBS
    Salt, .25 tsp
    Yeast, 1 pkg.

Directions

Combine water, honey and applesauce in a mixing bowl.

In another bowl combine dry ingredients (only use 2 cups of the flour). Gradually add dry ingredients to wet. Stir to combine - you can use an electric mixer if you want. Once ingredients are combined, place some of the remaining flour on a flat surface. Remove dough from mixing bowl and place on floured surface. Knead the dough, using remaining flour as needed.

Spray mixing bowl with cooking spray and place kneaded dough in the bowl. Spray top of dough with cooking spray. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a dish towel and store in a warm area. Allow the dough to rise for 90 minutes.

Remove dough and separate into 12 balls. Spray baking dish with cooking spray and place the dough balls in the dish. Spray dough with cooking spray and cover with plastic wrap or a dish towl. Place in a warm area and allow to rise for another hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cook rolls at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until lightly brown.

You can brush the rolls with an egg wash before cooking to add a sheen to them.

    Incredible!
I made these for Christmas this year and they were amazing! They were a little nutty and slightly sweet! I make rolls for every holiday meal, but these, by far, are the best I've made! I sprayed the top with some butter flavored cooking spray and spinkled with Kosher salt before baking! Amazing! - 12/26/10

    Very Good
This is the first "bread" item I've made, and it wasn't bad. There were a few things I didn't love, but I'm gonna attribute a lot of those to me not being able to make bread well yet. - 10/22/08
