    8 oz Elbow Macaroni
    3 Tbsp butter or margarine
    3 Tbsp flour
    ¼ tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper
    1 ½ C milk
    2 C grated American cheese
    1 C fresh bread crumbs
    2 Tbsp melted butter or margarine
    ½ tsp paprika


Cook and drain elbow macaroni. Melt butter over low heat. Blend in flour and seasonings. Gradually add milk, stirring until sauce thickens. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add cooked macaroni and mix. Pour into greased 1 ½ quart casserole. Toss bread crumbs with melted butter and paprika. Sprinkle over top of macaroni. Bake uncovered in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until browned and bubbly. Make six servings.

  • Based on other's reviews I too left out the breadcrumbs and I didn't bother to bake it - just did it on the stove top. I used the Barilla Plus macaroni for more fiber. It still tasted awesome! - 10/4/10

  • I omitted the bread crumbs as well, and it was still awsome! Can't beat a yummy and easy mac n cheese recipe the whole family will eat. Also subbed ww pasta, it was GOOOOD!! - 3/24/09

  • I was shocked at how yummy this was! I think next time I'll use less bread crumbs though :) It wasn't as good reheated, but definitely will eat it again!! - 12/31/08
