Introduction

I used to eat canned green beans all the time in college and later when I was doing the Suzanne Somers program I made up this recipe. It's always been a huge hit with my family and friends. I reduced the amount of butter, cream and cheeses now that I'm doing SP and it's still really good. It makes 5- 1/2 c servings. It's kind of like a green bean casserole w/out the mushrooms and crispy onions. Ingredients

    -1 T unsalted butter
    -1 c diced white onions
    -1/2 t minced garlic

    -1/2 c heavy whipping cream

-2 15 oz cans of french green beans, drained well

-1/2 c pizza cheese from Shop n Save (it's lower in calories than other kinds)
    -2 T grated parmesan cheese
    -salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Dice your onions and drain your green beans.

In a medium pot melt your butter over med/high heat and then add your onions and garlic. Saute until golden brown stirring frequently.

Add the cream, reduce the heat to med/low and stir constantly until somewhat thick.

Add the drained green beans and stir again. Add the cheeses and stir until all is warm and creamy. Add your salt and pepper to taste.

I like to serve this dish with fish sticks and fruit or grilled chicken or even meatloaf is a great match.

Makes 5 -1/2 cup servings.

Enjoy!
