Introduction
Too tasty. Seriously. And way too easy to make. This chicken can be oven broiled or grilled, but the results are always fantastic. (I prefer broiling it...the spices make my kitchen smell soooo good!) I've also used this recipe for extra-firm (gluten free) tofu with great results! Too tasty. Seriously. And way too easy to make. Ingredients
-
1 pound boneless/skinless chicken breasts
Marinade Sauce Ingredients:
2 tbsp wheat free or regular soy sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
2 tbsp minced garlic
2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder*
0.5 tsp salt
0.5 tsp ginger powder or ginger paste
*or a 1tsp mix of equal amounts of ground anise, ground black pepper, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground fennel seeds
Directions
0. The turmeric in the marinade may stain clothing, kitchen surfaces, or your skin, so please be careful!
1. Mix all marinade ingredients together in a large bowl. Put the chicken into the bowl and make sure all the pieces are covered with the marinade. You can choose to cover the bowl and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours, or you can just throw it in the oven now!
2. Cover an oven pan with aluminum foil. Lay out the chicken on the foil. Pour the extra marinade sauce over the chicken.
3. Put an oven rack in the middle position in the oven and set the oven to Broil on high. Broil the chicken for 5 minutes, flip the chicken breasts over, and broil for another 5 minutes. You can broil it for longer if you like your chicken to be a bit more dry and crispy.
Serves 4. Serve with rice or vegetables.
