Introduction

This is a really nice change from plain mashed potatoes, especially in the fall when fresh turnips are in abundance. This is a really nice change from plain mashed potatoes, especially in the fall when fresh turnips are in abundance.

Ingredients

    1 lb. small turnips, peeled and diced.
    1 lb potatoes, peeled and diced.
    1/4 cup fat free sour cream
    14 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper
    1/2 small onion, peeled
    2 cloves garlic

Directions

Put cloves of garlic stuffed into onions. Add to large pot. Add diced turnips and potatoes. Cover with water. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 25 minutes. Drain and remove onion and garlic. Mash potatoes and turnips. Add the remaining ingredients and continue to mash. Serve immediately or reheat in a 350 oven.

    It was like having garlic mashed potatoes and less calories. I left the salt out and substitued sweet onions. No chives in the refrig. Very good recipe will have it again - 2/2/10
