This is an excellent basic recipe for starting from scratch. I live in the high desert, so my pot needed about another cup of water. Also, I like spicy food, so I added a veggie bouillon cube, 2 cloves garlic, 1/4 tsp cayenne and cumin. I think the result is very tasty, so I'll be making this again. - 3/27/16
