Ingredients

    Apples, fresh, 4 large (3-1/4" dia)
    Salt, .75 tsp
    Shortening, Crisco, 9 tbsp
    Cinnamon, ground, 1 tsp
    GV Sugar, 1 Cup
    GV Flour, 2.25 cup
    GV Margarine, 1/3 cup

Directions

For pie crust:

Mix shortening into 1.5 cups of flour and .75 tsp salt with a fork until crumbly. Mix in 6 or more tbsp water a little at a time until dough clings together. Form into ball and roll out. Place in pie tins and bake at 425 degrees for about 15 minutes.

For Pie:
Place pie crust in a 9 inch pie tin. Peel and cut apples into small slices, arrange in pie tin. Mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples-- use all of it.

For Crumb Topping:
Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup flour, and 1/3 cup butter together with fork until very crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 400 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until golden brown.
