Ingredients

* Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
* Garlic, 4 cloves, finely minced
* Green Peppers (bell peppers), 1 cup, chopped
* Mushrooms, fresh, 1.5 cup, pieces or slices
* Ground beef, extra lean, 16 oz
* Tomato Paste, 1 can (6 oz)
* Tomato Sauce, 2.5 cup
* *Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes, 1.5 cup
* Granulated Sugar, 6 tsp
* Lea & Perrins, Worcestershire Sauce, 3 tsp
* Salt, 1 tsp
* Pepper, black, .5 tsp
* Pasta, cooked, 16 oz
* Italian Seasoning, 1 tsp
* Bay Leaf, 1 leaf
Directions
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
1. Brown beef in large pot until cooked through.
2. While meat is cooking, in bowl mix together the tomato paste, sauce, tomatoes, sugar, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
3. Drain meat well on paper towels and return to pot. Add the onions and bell pepper, stirring and cooking until the onions begin to turn clear. Add the mushrooms and garlic continuing to cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
4. Add the tomato sauce mixture to the meat mixture, stirring well. Simmer sauce for approx. 30 minutes.
(remove bay leaf before serving)
Serve over your favorite cooked pasta. Top with parmesan cheese.
*Note* If you really want to cut the fat and calories, try leaving out the meat and adding your favorite veggies. We like adding zucchini and yellow squash.
