Introduction

Thanks to my friend Yvonne. Congee is a great breakfast food, and very helpful if you have digestive concerns. Yummy with almond milk, bananas, honey, cinnamon -- you name it. Ingredients

1 cup medium grain white rice.
    8 cups water

Directions

In your crock pot, combine 1 cup medium grain white rice and 8 cups of water.

Cook for 8 hours.

Yup, this is a kind of gruel. One cup makes a great start to the day, and lets folks with lactose or gluten intolerance have a nice hot start to the day.

Easy to freeze, easy to quick heat on the stove or in the micro for a quick hot breakfast. Add cinnamon or almond milk, bananas, whatever moves you. (No, those aren't in the calorie count. They are extras).

    Very Good
Very tasty. I freeze individual portions then reheat in the microwave. I usually add some sort of spice to enhance flavor without upping the calories- curry or chili powder are both good! - 10/15/09
